A black leather strap and a square of warm gold is a very good way to get dressed. Omega’s De Ville takes the clean proportions of a tank watch and gives them more personality through a champagne dial, sweeping black Roman numerals and a dark cabochon crown. Generously proportioned for the style and strong in outline, it looks particularly sharp with black tailoring, silk, denim or a crisp white shirt.
The design language is formal and architectural, with softened corners and a double stepped bezel taking the severity out of the square case. Elongated Roman numerals pull the eye around the champagne dial, while the fine black hands echo the strap and sharpen the entire composition. The dark crown detail adds one final point of contrast, giving the piece the precise graphic character of late century Omega design.
