Leather Strap

A small study in ornament and proportion. This Seiko dress watch places a warm champagne dial inside a softly shaped gold-tone case, where black Arabic numerals rise around an intricate scrolling centre. Fine gold-tone hands move through the pattern, while the ornate lower dial detail gives the piece an almost miniature decorative-arts quality.

The black leather strap brings the composition back to something clean and wearable, setting off the gilded case without competing with the dial. Compact, expressive and distinctly of its era, it is a jewellery-minded Seiko for a tailored sleeve, an evening coat or a wrist that prefers detail over restraint.
