An exceptionally jewellery led Seiko Exceline, centred around a petite round case and an intricate gold tone bracelet that gives the piece the presence of a fine bracelet rather than a conventional watch.
The soft sunburst ivory dial is beautifully restrained, with tiny gold tone dot markers surrounding the perimeter and Roman numerals delicately placed at twelve and six. Fine gold tone hands complete the dial, keeping the face intentionally understated and allowing the construction around it to take centre stage.
The most distinctive detail sits at the lugs. Rather than a conventional straight connection, the case meets the bracelet through sculptural layered gold tone fittings, each set with a deep ruby coloured stone. The rich red catches the light beautifully against the warm gold and gives the piece an almost jewel set quality. From here, the bracelet continues into a wonderfully tactile braided, overlapping link construction, creating a fluid woven appearance as it wraps around the wrist.
There is something particularly considered about the proportions. The petite dial, decorative ruby coloured accents and substantial braided bracelet all work together so the watch reads first as a piece of jewellery, with timekeeping discreetly tucked into its centre.
