Rather than using stones as conventional hour markers, Yves Saint Laurent arranges them in a complete orbit around the dial. Eight vivid fuchsia rounds alternate with eight deep wine coloured marquise crystals, each set into a broad brushed gold chapter ring. At the centre, the white dial carries an extremely subtle pattern of repeating Yves Saint Laurent signatures, visible only as the light moves across it. A small gold YSL monogram and two slender hands keep the centre composed against the saturated colour surrounding it.

The result feels closer to a miniature jewel setting than a conventional dress watch. Its circular proportions, rich Rouge palette and crystal tipped crown carry the decorative confidence of 1990s fashion accessories, while the black leather strap gives the colour a sharper and more contemporary frame. It is particularly compelling against black eveningwear, burgundy, cream silk and tailored neutrals, either worn alone as the decisive detail or accompanied by one fine gold bracelet.
